Connect your Wix Blog to Rank Prompt

Publish the articles Rank Prompt writes to the Wix Blog of your site, with the SEO title, meta description and structured data in each post’s SEO settings, now or at the time you schedule.

Wix

Rank Prompt reads

  • Post URL and status
  • Sites the key opens
  • Site members
  • Site publish and Premium state

Rank Prompt sends

  • Title and body
  • Cover and body images
  • SEO title and meta description
  • Excerpt and tags
  • JSON-LD
  • Publish date
Rank Prompt

What it does

  • Publishes a post now, schedules it, saves it as a draft, or takes a live post back to draft.
  • Saves the SEO title, meta description, focus keyword, social cards and the article’s JSON-LD in the post’s SEO settings.
  • Sends the excerpt, tags, cover image and body images, imported into the site’s Media Manager.
  • Credits every post to a member of the site with a blog writer role.
  • Updates the same post when you publish again; removing it moves the post to the blog’s trash, where you can restore it.

What it cannot do

  • The article is converted to the Wix Blog format (Ricos): headings, paragraphs, lists, quotes, tables, code blocks, links and images carry over; embedded videos and forms are left out, and inline code keeps its text without the code style.
  • A Wix Blog post holds at most 400 KB.
  • Wix tells Bing and the other IndexNow engines about new posts itself on Premium sites; Rank Prompt serves no IndexNow key on Wix.
  • A schedule set by hand in Wix is replaced by the one set in Rank Prompt.

Before you start

Plan From Starter

  • A Wix site with the Wix Blog app, published at least once.
  • An API key from the Wix API Keys Manager with the Wix Blog, Members, Media Manager and Sites permissions.
  • A member of the site with a blog writer role, usually you.
Setup

Wix setup in 4 steps

  1. Step 1

Create an API key in Wix

In the Wix API Keys Manager, create a key with the Wix Blog (read included), Members (Read Members), Media Manager and Sites permissions, and copy it.

  2. Step 2

    Open Integrations, Publish Content

In Rank Prompt, open Integrations, then the Publish Content tab. On the More platforms card click +, pick Wix and click Continue.

The Connect a platform dialog listing Ghost, Shopify, Webflow, Wix and Webhook.
  3. Step 3

    Paste the API key

Paste the API key and click Continue. Rank Prompt lists the sites the key opens and the members of the one you choose.

The Connect Wix dialog with the API key field.
  4. Step 4

Choose the site and the author

Pick the Site from the list and the member Wix credits each post to, then click Connect.

Troubleshooting

Wix: errors and fixes

These are the messages the app shows, word for word, and what fixes each one.

  • Wix refused the API key. Create a new one in the Wix API Keys Manager and reconnect.

The key was deleted or copied in part. Create a new one and paste it in the connection settings.

  • Wix did not list the account's sites for this key. Check that the API key is copied whole and that it has the Sites permission.

Copy the whole key and give it the Sites permission.

  • The Wix API key cannot read the site's members, and Wix credits every post to a member. Give it the Members permission (Read Members) in the API Keys Manager.

Add Members (Read Members) to the key in the API Keys Manager.

  • The Wix API key cannot manage the blog. Give it the Wix Blog permission in the API Keys Manager, and check that the site has the Wix Blog app.

Add the Wix Blog permission, and the Wix Blog app to the site if it has none.

  • Images stay out of the posts: the Wix API key cannot add files to the Media Manager. Give it the Media Manager permission in the API Keys Manager.

Add the Media Manager permission to the key.

  • The Wix site has no members to credit posts to. Add yourself as a blog writer in Wix first.

In Wix, add yourself as a blog writer, then connect again.

  • The Wix site is not published yet, so its posts are not public. Publish the site once from the Wix editor.

Publish the site once from the Wix editor.

  • The article is too long for a Wix Blog post, which holds at most 400 KB. Shorten it and try again.

Shorten the article, then publish again.

Still have questions? Contact our team

Does anything get lost when an article goes to Wix?

Wix stores posts in its own format, so the article is converted: headings, lists, tables, quotes, code blocks, links and images carry over, while embedded videos and forms are left out.

Where do the SEO title and structured data go?

Into each post’s SEO settings, next to the BlogPosting schema Wix Blog already prints. Rank Prompt reads them back after each write to confirm they stuck.

What happens when I remove a post?

It moves to the Wix Blog trash, where you can restore it from Wix.

Which plan do I need?

Publishing to Wix starts on Starter at $49 a month. The article generation it publishes costs 10 credits per article.
