Integration guide

Connect the Rank Prompt MCP server

Give your AI agent your AI visibility: it reads your reports, citations and brands, and runs new reports for you, from Claude Code, Cursor or any MCP client.

MCP Server

Rank Prompt reads

  • Your agent’s requests
  • The permissions you granted

Rank Prompt sends

  • Reports and scores
  • Citations and sources
  • Brands and competitors
  • Job status
Rank Prompt

What it does

  • Lets an agent read your brands, reports, citations and competitors in plain language.
  • Runs reports, audits and research for you, on the same credits as the app.
  • Signs in over OAuth in the browser, with the permissions you pick, so no key is pasted into the client.
  • Works in any client that speaks MCP over Streamable HTTP: Claude Code, Cursor, Claude Desktop and more.

Before you start

Plan Every plan, free included

  • An MCP client: Claude Code, Cursor, Claude Desktop or another client with remote MCP support.
  • A Rank Prompt account to sign in with. Every plan works, free included, with 1,000 requests a month on Free.
Setup

MCP Server setup in 4 steps

  1. Step 1

    Open the MCP page

In Rank Prompt, open Developers, MCP. It has the command and the setup prompt ready to copy.

The Connect over MCP page with the Claude Code command for https://mcp.rankprompt.com/mcp.
  2. Step 2

    Add the server

In Claude Code, run claude mcp add --transport http --scope user rankprompt https://mcp.rankprompt.com/mcp. In another client, add a remote MCP server with the URL https://mcp.rankprompt.com/mcp.

  3. Step 3

    Sign in over OAuth

Run /mcp in Claude Code, or connect from your client, open the link it gives you, sign in to Rank Prompt and approve access.

  4. Step 4

    Ask your agent

Start with “call the rankprompt_prime tool, then list my brands”, then ask for what you need: a report, the sources behind an answer, a new article.

Troubleshooting

MCP Server: errors and fixes

These are the messages the app shows, word for word, and what fixes each one.

  • request_quota_exceeded: Monthly request quota exceeded

The monthly request allowance of your plan ran out. It resets with the billing period, or a higher plan raises it.

  • insufficient_scope: API key does not have the required scope

The permissions approved at sign-in do not cover that action. Disconnect and sign in again, approving the scope the error names.

  • account_membership_required: The API key acts in a team account its creator is no longer an active member of

The connection was made in a team account you no longer belong to. Sign in again in an account you are a member of.
