Connect Webflow to Rank Prompt

Publish the articles Rank Prompt writes as items of your Webflow blog collection, each field filled from the part of the article you mapped, now or at the time you schedule.

Webflow

Rank Prompt reads

  • Item URL and status
  • Sites and collections
  • Collection fields
  • Site publish state

Rank Prompt sends

  • Item fields you mapped
  • Rich text body
  • Images
  • SEO title and meta description
  • JSON-LD
  • Publish date
Rank Prompt

What it does

  • Adds each article as an item of one CMS collection and publishes that item on its own, without publishing the rest of the site.
  • Fills the fields you map: title, body, summary, featured image, SEO title, meta description, focus keyword, publish date, tags and JSON-LD, or one fixed value for every article.
  • Uses a fallback image for a required image field when an article has none.
  • Schedules an item as a staged draft and publishes it at its time; updates and removes the same item later.

What it cannot do

  • A collection item has no SEO settings of its own: the SEO title, meta description and JSON-LD reach the page only once the collection template binds them in the Designer.
  • Webflow cannot serve an IndexNow key of ours, so Bing and the other IndexNow engines find new items on their own crawl.
  • Webflow allows 60 requests a minute per site; a busy site may ask Rank Prompt to wait.
  • One collection per brand; a second one replaces the first.

Before you start

Plan From Starter

  • A Webflow site with a CMS collection for the blog, published at least once.
  • A site token with CMS: read and write and Sites: read access.
  • Two plain text fields for the SEO title and meta description, and one for the JSON-LD, if the collection has none yet.
Setup

Webflow setup in 5 steps

  1. Step 1

    Generate a site token

In Webflow, open the site settings, Apps & integrations, and generate a site token with CMS read and write and Sites read access.

  2. Step 2

    Open Integrations, Publish Content

In Rank Prompt, open Integrations, then the Publish Content tab. On the More platforms card click +, pick Webflow and click Continue.

The Connect a platform dialog listing Ghost, Shopify, Webflow, Wix and Webhook.
  3. Step 3

    Paste the token

Paste the Site token and click Continue. Rank Prompt lists the site, its collections and the fields of the one that looks like a blog.

The Connect Webflow dialog with the site token field.
  4. Step 4

    Map the fields and connect

Check the Collection and the Fields: the body goes to a rich text field, and every required field takes a part of the article or a fixed value. Map the SEO title, meta description and JSON-LD to plain text fields, then click Connect.

  5. Step 5

Bind the SEO fields in the Designer

Open the collection template page, bind its SEO title and meta description to the fields you mapped, and print the JSON-LD field inside a <script type="application/ld+json"> tag in the page’s custom code. Without this step item pages show the site’s default title.

Troubleshooting

Webflow: errors and fixes

These are the messages the app shows, word for word, and what fixes each one.

  • Webflow refused the site token. Generate a new one in the site settings (Apps & integrations).

Generate a new token and paste it in the connection settings.

  • The Webflow token cannot do this. Give it read and write access to CMS and read access to Sites when you generate it.

Generate a new token with those scopes and paste it in the connection settings.

  • Webflow will not publish items of this site on their own until the whole site is published: publish it once from Webflow, then publish the article again.

Publish the site once from the Webflow Designer.

  • Map the article's body to a rich text field of the collection.

Add a rich text field to the collection if it has none, then map the body to it.

  • Webflow did not keep the SEO fields sent with this item. Check the fields mapped for them.

Open the connection settings and map the SEO title and meta description to two plain text fields.

  • The collection changed in Webflow since it was connected. Open the connection and check the fields.

Open the connection settings and map the new or renamed fields.

  • Webflow asked to slow down. Try again in a minute.

Wait a minute and publish again.

FAQ

Webflow integration FAQs

Still have questions? Contact our team

Does publishing an article publish my whole Webflow site?

No. Rank Prompt publishes only the article’s item. The site has to have been published once before items can go live on their own.

Why do the SEO fields need a step in the Designer?

Webflow keeps SEO settings on the collection template page, not on each item. Rank Prompt fills two fields per item; binding the template to them makes every article page use its own title and description.

What if my collection requires a field Rank Prompt has no content for?

Give it a fixed value in the field map, or for a required image field, a fallback image used when an article has no featured image.

Which plan do I need?

Publishing to Webflow starts on Starter at $49 a month. The article generation it publishes costs 10 credits per article.
