Rank Prompt What it does
- Hosts a blog on a subdomain you choose, such as blog.yourbrand.com.
- Takes your logo, favicon and colors from your website so the blog looks like yours.
- Serves it over https with an SSL certificate and a CDN, with the sitemap and canonical URLs on your domain.
- Publishes every article Rank Prompt writes in one click, with its meta and schema.
Before you start
Plan From Starter
- A domain whose DNS records you can edit, at your registrar or DNS provider.
- A subdomain for the blog that nothing else uses yet.
- The brand’s website set in brand settings, so the blog can take its style.
Hosted Blog setup in 4 steps
-
Step 1
Pick the blog address
In Integrations, Publish Content, find Create New Blog and type the subdomain the blog should live on.
-
Step 2
Add the three DNS records
At your DNS provider, add the TXT record that proves you own the domain, the CNAME record that points the subdomain at the blog, and the second CNAME that issues the SSL certificate. The card shows the exact name and value of each.
-
Step 3
Create the managed blog
Click Create Managed Blog. The first two records are checked before the blog is created, and the third one turns on https.
-
Step 4
Publish to it
The blog now appears as a publishing destination: open an article and publish it there in one click.
Hosted Blog: errors and fixes
These are the messages the app shows, word for word, and what fixes each one.
-
DNS record not found
The record has not reached the resolvers yet, or its name is wrong. Check the name against the card, wait a few minutes and verify again.
-
CNAME record not pointing to sites.rankprompt.com
The subdomain points somewhere else. Edit the CNAME so its value is exactly
sites.rankprompt.com, as the card shows. -
DNS must be verified before provisioning
Records one and two have to verify first. Add them, wait for them to propagate, then create the blog.
-
Your DNS provider returned an error (SERVFAIL) for blog.yourbrand.com. The record may be fine, but the zone is not answering: check DNSSEC and the nameserver setup for the domain, then try again.
The whole zone is failing, usually a broken DNSSEC setup. Fix it at your DNS provider or registrar, then verify again.
-
The domain blog.yourbrand.com is already in use. Please choose a different subdomain or domain.
Another blog already uses that address. Pick a different subdomain.
Do I need WordPress or another CMS?
No. Rank Prompt runs the blog for you, a managed WordPress it hosts, so all you add are three DNS records at your provider.
Will the articles count for my domain?
The blog lives on a subdomain of your own site, with the sitemap and canonical URLs on your domain, so the links and citations it earns point at your domain rather than at ours.
Is https included?
Yes. The third DNS record lets the certificate be issued, and the blog is served over https through a CDN from then on.
Which plan do I need?
A hosted blog starts on Starter at $49 a month.
