Audits
GEO audit for AI search
A GEO audit checks the three things that decide whether AI recommends you: whether AI crawlers can read your site, how often AI engines name you, and what they say about you.
- Free first report
- No credit card
- Technical check on Starter
Trusted by teams and agencies winning AI search
Rank Prompt runs a GEO audit, also called an AEO audit, in three layers. A technical check covers AI crawler access and indexability, visibility reports show how often each AI engine names you, and the Brand Audit shows what 6 models say about your brand.
Three questions, one audit
Each layer has its own page. Start with the one you are least sure about.
-
Can AI read your site?
- AI crawler access Whether robots.txt lets OAI-SearchBot, ChatGPT-User, PerplexityBot, ClaudeBot, Googlebot and Bingbot in.
- No bot wall Whether Cloudflare or a firewall blocks AI crawlers before they reach your pages.
- Indexable pages No stray noindex, a correct canonical, a sitemap and HTTPS.
- Headings and schema A clear heading outline and structured data AI can read.
-
Does AI mention you?
- Named on buyer questions How often each engine names you, and where you land in the answer.
- Cited sources The pages AI reads, and which ones name competitors but not you.
-
What does AI say about you?
- What AI says Sentiment, misleading sources, and whether models know you from memory.
- Your own site cited How often AI cites your pages when it describes you.
What a GEO audit checks
Site first, because if AI cannot read your pages nothing else matters.

How to run a GEO audit
Four steps in Rank Prompt, from crawler access to fixes.
- 01
Check AI crawler access
The technical check reads robots.txt, AI crawler access, bot walls, indexability, headings and schema.
- 02
Run your first report

- 03
Run the AI visibility audit
From 10 credits. 6 models say what they know about your brand.

What is a GEO audit?
A GEO (generative engine optimization) audit checks how ready your brand is for AI search. It covers three layers: whether AI crawlers can read your site, how often AI engines name you on buyer questions, and what they say about you.
Is a GEO audit the same as an AEO audit?
Yes. GEO and AEO (answer engine optimization) are two names for optimizing for AI answers, so a GEO audit and an AEO audit check the same things. The AEO audit checklist walks through it by hand.
Is there a free GEO audit?
Most of it can start free: your first visibility report, the free AI visibility checker, the AEO checker, the robots.txt AI checker and the llms.txt generator. The technical check is included on Starter, and the Brand Audit costs from 10 credits.
How is a GEO audit different from an SEO audit?
An SEO audit asks whether Google can rank your pages. A GEO audit also asks whether AI crawlers can reach them, whether AI answers name you, and what they say.
Do llms.txt and schema help?
They are cheap and worth having, but neither gets you cited on its own. There is no evidence AI crawlers read llms.txt, and schema mainly helps rich results and keeps your brand facts consistent. Crawler access and the sources AI cites matter more.
What does a GEO audit cost in Rank Prompt?
The first visibility report is free. The technical check is included on Starter, a Lighthouse audit costs 1 credit, a page audit 1 credit per page, and the Brand Audit from 10 credits. Starter is $49/mo with 150 credits.
How often should I run a GEO audit?
Check crawler access after every site release. Track AI mentions weekly or monthly, and re-run the AI visibility audit monthly and 2 to 4 weeks after big content changes.
