Before you start
Plan From Starter
- A Google account that manages the Business Profile location, as owner or manager.
- A verified location on Google Business Profile.
- For several locations: link each one to the brand.
Google Business Profile setup in 4 steps
-
Step 1
Connect Google
Open Business Profile and connect Google with the account that manages the profile. Google asks for Business Profile access on its own, and it has to be the same account as the brand’s Analytics and Search Console. The connection then shows in Integrations, Measure & Track.
-
Step 2
Allow Business Profile management
On Google’s consent screen, allow Rank Prompt to manage your business listings. It needs this scope to publish the posts, replies and edits you approve.
-
Step 3
Link your locations
In the Google Services settings, click Add locations and pick the locations for this brand. Mark one as primary.
-
Step 4
Work the profile
Open Business Profile to review the AI suggestions, schedule posts, answer reviews and run a Geo Grid scan.
Google Business Profile: errors and fixes
These are the messages the app shows, word for word, and what fixes each one.
-
Connect with the same Google account used before, or disconnect Google first to switch accounts.
A brand keeps one Google account for Analytics, Search Console and Business Profile. Connect with the account you used before, or disconnect Google in Integrations, Measure & Track and connect again with the other account.
-
Google Business Profile access denied: The caller does not have permission
The connected Google account is not an owner or manager of that location. Add it in Business Profile, or reconnect with the account that manages it.
-
Google Business Profile API rate limit reached. Please try again in a minute.
Google limits how fast a profile can be read and edited. Wait a minute and try again.
-
Google Business Profile is temporarily unavailable. Please try again.
A temporary Google outage. Try again in a few minutes.
-
Google Business Profile allows at most 9 additional categories
A profile takes one primary category and up to nine more. Remove one before adding another.
-
Business Profile location not found
The location was removed or moved to another account in Google. Link it again from the Google Services settings.
Why does Rank Prompt need to manage my listing?
Posts, review replies and profile edits are writes, and Google only allows them with the Business Profile management scope. Nothing is published without you approving it in Rank Prompt.
Can I connect several locations?
Yes. Link as many locations as the brand has, and mark one as primary. Franchises and multi-office businesses run each location on its own.
Why are the last days of performance data missing?
Google publishes Business Profile performance with a delay of about three days, so the most recent days are left out until they are complete.
Which plan do I need?
Google Business Profile tools start on Starter at $49 a month. A Geo Grid scan costs credits by grid size.
