What is an AEO audit?
A check of whether AI engines like ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Google AI Mode (AI Overviews) can fetch your pages, lift an answer from them, trust them and cite them. This checklist scores it out of 25 in five sections.
How is it different from an SEO audit?
An SEO audit asks whether Google can rank a page. An AEO audit asks whether an answer engine can quote and cite it: AI crawler access, answer blocks, schema, entity consistency and tracking of mentions and citations. The technical basics overlap.
What score means a site is ready?
21 to 25 is AEO ready, 16 to 20 solid with clear gaps, 11 to 15 partly optimized, 6 to 10 at risk and 0 to 5 invisible. Get your priority pages to 21 first.
